"Ki in Daily Life" Workshops

Who uses Ki Development training?

Musicians, librarians, computer technicians, bakers, writers, students, police--ki development is for anyone. Learning to relax and remain calm under duress is applicable to almost all of us.  Some of us feel fairly calm in our daily lives, but how do we handle emergency situations or problems out of the norm.  If we tense, then ki training can help

Power of Relaxation- Through a series of demonstrations and participation, you become more aware of your own body and the power of your mind to coordinate reactions to stressful situations.? Comparing tension to relaxation, you explore methods to bring relaxation to the forefront when faced with daily life disturbances.

Connection - Many professionals find themselves in the position of managing others or working within complex systems that challenge our patience.? How do we connect with others around us, work without conflict and create a positive environment?? This workshop will engage you and other participants in exercises that move us away from a course of collision and place us on a road of agreement.

Focus and concentration - Your work often creates a demand for multitasked performance; you have phone calls and emails to return, papers to be written and people to see. Do you give one hundred percent commitment to all these tasks or do you get side tracked, miss details or even delay what is required of you? You will explore methods to undertake your challenges in a calm and relaxed manner, a manner less prone with errors in judgment.

Typically, our presentation for Plenary sessions consist of introducing the concepts of relaxation as power, stability and control, calm awareness and the need to view all adversity as a part of the universal equation and not as the enemy. Using demonstrations with members of the audience and paired experiments we will allow all participants to experience the power of relaxation. We will “taste” that relaxation is stronger than tension and then work with examples in how to apply this to our daily life. Each participant will be able to feel this for themselves.  Experiments such as  “unbendable arm”and “unliftable body” can give concrete results of the power of relaxation. These techniques are philosophy in action and have been taught to many diverse groups including sports teams, law enforcement, court staff, medical staff, seniors groups, kids and maximum security inmates.
Why do we tense up when presented with conflict?
Some part of us believes that tension will serve to overcome our enemies or problems. Through experiments we can retrain ourselves to use relaxation and calmness in times of stress.
In a breakout session we will go over these principles in depth and train more exercisies which can help develop our awareness and ability to access these tools in daily life.

“I finally understood that I could relax without losing power.  I thought I had to be tense to be strong, but Maida Sensei showed me something different.”

“I’ve been training in Ki development work for several years. I know that now, I find that my patience is so much greater at home. I really don’t find myself getting so disturbed to the point of yelling. My daughter finds it strange.”
Parenting with Ki workshop attendee

Thank-you so much for the workshop to the Chevron-Texaco employees in San Ramon.  What a positive sensation you created  for the 300 people who attended.  I was impressed with how attentive and receptive the audience was; not a single person left the room during your talk, there was an unusual degree of focus for such a large crowd.  The interactive exercises and demonstrations gave even the worst skeptic tangible proof of the benefits of relaxation.

Ki in daily life for me has taught me how to balance a situation out before reacting on them.
I have had many situations in jail in which Ki in daily life has in fact helped me from getting in further trouble.
